About me
Hi, my name is Samantha Trujillo, and I am
currently in 9th grade. I attend the Health and Science academy at Bayside high
school. When I graduate from High school I would like to pursue the discipline
of being an Oncologist. I want to be an Oncologist because I would like to take
part and try and find a cure for cancer. Cancer affects millions of people
worldwide, and it would just be an amazing, blessing, if at the end of the day I
felt like I help out in some way. In High school I always try my best and always
turn in my homework on time. I have full dedication for the things I sign up
for, and I always try my hardest no matter what. When I am in school and doing
work I give 110% of my full effort. Recently I volunteered my time at the MS
walk at Mt. Trash more and the vision walk at the Ocean front. I also plan to
volunteer at CHKD over the summer, and focus on learning more of Spanish. The
extra extracurricular activities I am involved are Soccer, HOSA, and freshmen
class. My favorite hobbies are drawing, writing, and reading. My goal in life is
just to accomplish being in the medical field and care about what really matters
in life. I know tough challenges are going to get in the way and at some points
in life failure might be an option but I’ll always keep my head held high and
try no matter what.
“Failure only makes you stronger but it’s
the hard work and dedication that keeps you
going”
My future job
When i get older I want to pursue the job of being an oncologist.
Definition of oncologist
Oncologist: a specialist in oncology
Oncologists are physicians who treat cancerous tumors through careful study and diagnosis. They are highly specialized doctors who have spent numerous years training to treat every type of cancer. In addition to four years of college and four years of medical school, an oncologist is required to train as a specialist or sub specialist for an additional four to six years. After this training is complete, they undergo a written and oral set of examinations. Even then, some types of oncology require additional years of training.

Why I want to be one?
I really want to specialize in this field because cancer affects millions of people around the world. Its an everyday thing people struggle with and it’s something that effected my family’s side. So I feel like I want to be able to commit myself into being able to learn what primarily causes the different types of cancers and how can we decrease the number of people affected by cancer.
