Health occupations
Health Occupations introduces students to the history of
medicine, medical terminology and body systems. This course provides an
opportunity to explore many different areas and careers in health care and begin
a basic study of anatomy and physiology. In this course, there are many hands-on
activities such as earning certification in American Heart Association Health
Care Provider CPR and First Aid, taking vital signs, and assessing the senses of
the body.

What is HOSA?
HOSA is a national organization endorsed by the U.S. Department of Education and the
Health Occupations Division of the Association for Career and Technical Education. Established in 1976,membership has grown to include over 60,000 students and professionals from 37 states in the nation.HOSA is designed to prepare students for their future careers in the medical field while enhancing their pre-professional education. HOSA does not focus primarily on students wishing to pursue medical school. Membership and activities are open to all majors and career aspirations including, but not limited to, the allied health professions, nursing, speech pathology, nutrition, physical therapy, dental.
Purpose
The purpose of the HOSA organization is to develop leadership and technical HOSA
skill competencies through a program of motivation, awareness and recognition,
which is an integral part of the Health Science Education instructional
program.
